We’ve had confirmation from our factory that our terrific new 5T Disc framesets are on the way to us. We’re really excited about these and wanted to share with you some of the reasons why.
Making the switch to discs has enabled us to go back to one of our most popular models and give it a design evolution that we hope will help it appeal to a larger and wider group of riders.
Firstly they look fantastic, Matt who designs our colour schemes, has really hit a home run with these two new designs. The sweet orange is very similar to the one use on our Aithein and it looks stunning in real life (it photographs pretty well too!). The Silver Grey is very classy and both colour schemes have lots of lovely details that add up to a great overall aesthetic.
We’re also excited to launch a new size 45cm frameset with the 5T Disc. This will allow smaller people and junior riders in particular to get onto a versatile race bred cyclocross frame. It’s something we’ve been asked and it’s great to be able to bring this new size to market. (That’s a 45cm bike below)
In the move to discs, we’ve also developed a brand new carbon eyeletted disc fork with a tapered steerer to help enhance steering and handling. This enhancement improves the performance of the bike and its key to our decision to offer the new 5T Disc as a frameset.
We’ve reworked a number of tubes in profiles in the design including around the rear dropouts for the post mount discs and the top tube which we’ve made more comfortable for shouldering.
The 5T has always been a highly versatile frame, so we’ve included full mudguard and rack mounts with clearances for around 40mm tyres and full guards (depending on the tyre you choose).
Like all Kinesis frames, it’s designed for UK riding conditions and built to last.
The 5T disc is designed to be a fun and capable all-rounder that you can race if you wish, explore paths off the beaten track and still ride it to work or on the club run or with your kids.
Frameset are available for pre-order now at £499.99 retail (including frame, fork, headset, seatclamp and cable guide).
As part of the launch we’ll be offering a special bundle of a 5T Disc frameset and our highly regarded 3rd generation CX Disc wheels for £650 – saving £150. We know many people who are making the jump to discs might not already have a set of disc wheels on hand, so we hope this will make it easier.
We also have our 105 build kit (including everything needed to create a complete bike) and they’ll be a new Tiagra one available soon too.
