Matt Ryley - Kinesis Bikes

Matt Ryley

Year of birth: 1968

Matt is a director and 1 of the 2 founders of Upgrade Bikes Ltd (parent company to Kinesis UK and DMR brands).

In his teens cycle touring, youth hostelling, ‘scrambling’ and general bike fettling are what spiked his interest in bikes. Then the Mountain bike came along in the late 80’s and Matt was hooked, riding his Saracen Tufftrax to and from university in London and then (before parenthood) spending most weekends in the Surrey Hills.

Matt’s competitive streak surfaced in his mid 40’s and his focus now is long distance triathlon; he has 3 sub 10hr Ironman finishes to his name and has been to the half Ironman World(x2) and European(x1) championships representing Team GB. Although he races a Non-Kinesis Tri bike, most of his time riding and training is done on his Kinesis RTD, Kinesis Aithein Evo, Kinesis ATR or Kinesis FF29.

Also completed the DirtyReiver, Aggregate 100, Liege-Bastogne-Liege, Mallorca 312, Mountain Mayhem and has been spotted at a London League CX race!

He has bike packed across the alps twice and spent time in France and Holland with nothing more than his Kinesis bike and a tent and more long distance self-supported trips are a future goal, which also include: 3Peaks, LEJOG and another Ironman (or 2!!)
