IT'S A NEW PHASE

Designed back in early 2004 our original Maxlight Phase was considered by some as one of the first “radical XC” bikes on the market in the UK. In the years since, a lot has changed including terminology as well as design, components, manufacturing and materials before we consider wheel sizes.

However for as much as the landscape has changed since 2004, many of the ideas we used in the first model were just as applicable for designing the new 2016 Maxlight Phase.

We took what we loved most about the original model and brought it up to date so that it could benefit from some of the changes for good over the last decade:
• 27in + or 27in Wheels; you can fit either.

Just as we’ve always done we wanted to provide a great ride, good value and maximum versatility. With this in mind, we designed the new Phase around plus size tyres (27x3.0') for ultimate grip and increased comfort, but it will work great with the 27in standard fit too!

• BOOST Rear Hub Spacing 148mm This new development allows a wider bracing angle for the hubs and spoke angles, which makes for a stiffer wheel. It also increases the clearances and that allows you to run wider tyres while not increasing the Q factor.

Thanks to the evolving transmission options now available, going 1X means less complicated shifting but still maintaining a wide range of gear ratios. For example, partner a front ring (between 28t to 34t) with a wide range cassette (even up to a 45t with an expander) for ultimate flexibility and fantastic performance.

The heart of any Kinesis UK frame is the class leading materials that we use to make the frames. The alloy heart of the Phase is formed around a super plastic formed tubeset (SPF) and this process of using plastic under pressure forms the swooping long top tube and also enables the intricate tube shapes on the downtube.

• Internal cable routing The Phase features internal cable routing through the top tube and down tube for clean lines, cables and less maintenance. For the best shift performance possible, the cable run should go down the seat stay and into the mech.

• 67 degree head angle for that long low and slack handling Changing to a longer top tube and more relaxed head angle, gives the Phase a trail taming ride. The longer top tube encourages a shorter stem, which means better handling on tight twisty trails. Hardtails are about connection to the trail, putting a grin on your face and getting maximum performance for your money.
