Here’s an interesting and effective Crosslight Evo5 build, made specifically for fast Adventure Racing. This bike was built by Paul Cooper for the Scottish C2C 105 mile adventure race.
He won.
Here’s his story;
“I competed in the Scottish C2C 105 mile adventure race in September which consisted of run/bike/kayak/bike/run/kayak from Nairn coast to Balagoulish in Glen Coe.
I bought the Crosslight Evo 5 frameset specifically for this event and built it up with full dura ace gearing/pro cockpit/enve carbon wheels (the road tyres were replaced with cyclocross tyres for the event) and avid ultimate brake set with added clip on tri bars for the road section.
After the first run I gained the lead within 2-3 mile on the bike and never saw another sole for the rest of the race, I put this down to the bike being speedy, comfortable and very good off road, without doubt it was the bike for the job and the bike i always prefer to ride…even more than my full on road going Parlee custom built bike.
If I had to only have one bike this would be it bike, even some friends have bought one because of me keeping raving about it!
In my first sprint tri of the season I used it instead of TT/road bike and still got 3rd or 4th fastest bike split over the people with full TT bikes (them tri dudes don’t like being over taken by road bike and even worse a cross bike).
Definitely a big thumbs up from me and now my converted friends from Scotland.”
