A Month In Mallorca

A Month In Mallorca

Blog by 'Rupert Robinson' onboard the Kinesis '4S DISC'

Ahead of the inaugural Transalba race around Scotland I decided to take a month’s sabbatical from work and go ride my bike in Mallorca to get some decent miles in the bag.

Being February the weather was bound to be better than commuting in the UK.

I chose to take my 4S DISC as this is what I will be using in the self-supported race.

There are some great iconic climbs in Mallorca including the Sa Calobra, Puig Major and Cap De Formentor among many many others. Having ridden here for a few years I knew my way round the top part of the island pretty well.

Most of the roads are super smooth and were not busy at all in February as it is out of season. The weather was great and I was lucky not to have any real rain, but it was quite fresh some mornings.

I had a few routes planned and followed some of these as well as riding ad-hoc dependent on time of day and terrain.

Over 25 days of riding these were some of the most scenic and most loved routes including the standard bike picture of course. I managed to cover off just shy of 1000 miles.

If you haven’t ridden in Mallorca then there are some great routes worth looking at and a great place for training.
